8. Several Promethean presentations that were created using the techniques to be learned in this training
9. The evaluations to be completed by the trainees
10. Binders for each trainee containing all handouts to be discussed during the training
Content to be covered:
Day 1
1. Identification and proper usage of all instructional technologies made available to teachers at the York County School of Technology
a. Computer labs-Location, how to obtain one, proper use
b. Promethean software-What this software can do for someone in the classroom
c. Microsoft office software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Access-Proper and effective use
d. Proper and effective internet usage-Valid websites, search engines
2. Promethean software use-Activstudio Professional Edition V3
a. Gettins started-Flipcharts and the Activpen, highlighter, eraser, saving and opening flipcharts
b. Manipulating existing items-Selecting, moving, resizing
c. Customizing Activstudio-Adding tools, customizing colors, arranging windows
d. Power tools-Calculator, keyboard, tickertape
e. Shortcuts and tips-Dashboard, shortcut bar, Activmarker
Day 2
3. Microsoft Office software training
a. Microsoft Word-How to do the basics: type where you want to on a page, fix spelling errors, change spacing and page margins, and save your work, how to get from one place to another in a document so that you can make changes anywhere on the page, how to add and delete text, and move text around, emphasize text, make lists, and use style, a tool that helps you format a document
b. Microsoft Excel-How to create a workbook, enter and edit text and numbers, and add rows or columns, how to enter simple formulas into worksheets, and how to make formulas update their results automatically, How to find the number of days between dates, or the date after a number of workdays, or the date after a number of days, months, or years
c. Microsoft Power Point-Slideshow basics, picture basics, use diagrams, charts and tables, add sound or narration, insert movies, use animation, change slide design, prepare to present, learn general office skills
d. Microsoft Access-Access basics, how to download and use templates, how to create and use forms and reports, brief lessons in the Ribbon, Quick Access toolbar, and Microsoft Office Button, plus working with file formats, how to use the Navigation Pane, the essential tool for using and managing your databases
4. Performance of an effective internet search and identifying a website's validity
a. Basic navigation
b. Search engine idenification
c. How to identify credible websites
d. How to search effectively
